Project 1

Module 1

In module 1, the basics of physical interaction were introduced by exploring technologies that incorporate physical data and digital softwares that correspond to interactions. Using the Arduino microcontroller board and Makey Makey, we linked physical inputs to digital outputs such as Protopie and Touch Designer.

Research Activity - This research activity focuses on using the resources provided by WGSN to identify and analyze current consumer trends and personas. It is used to help better inform "How Might I" statements to help identify probelms needing solutions and areas of interest.

WGSN Consumer Trend Research

From the Hometech 2027 list, this research trend focuses on art inspired design and quiet aesthetics.

WGSN Personas Research

From the Personas 2027: Consumer Tech report,The Energisers and The Privacy Keepers are one of four personas rising into 2027, each with a set of needs, values and behaviours.

Project Path

The project path helps outline the direction towards the final project.

Project 1 Concept

The design concept focuses on the “quiet aesthetic”, creating a sensory calm app that allows users the sounds to support focus, relaxation or rest. Its minimal interface limits digital distraction and reduces cognitive overload while maintaining an intuitive design. The prototype will be created using Protopie, and users can control light properties using the Arduino IDE. This project reflects the users who desire more meaningful, personal, and private interactions to build intentional relationships with technology.
